Work style"},"content":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-12226","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":{"sections":[{"acf_fc_layout":"section_100","bg":"","title":"","font_size":"20","text":"<p>Turing took a similar approach to all the different disciplines he explored \u2013 from the chemistry experiments in his childhood, through astronomical observations, various branches of mathematics, and up until the foundations of computer science, which he would go on to develop after the war.<\/p>\n<p>His work was marked by wild, almost childlike, excitement, a curiosity for the tiniest, even abstract, details and the ability to find connections where no one else could.<\/p>\n<p>His <em>magnum opus,<\/em> the Turing machine, was conceptualised as an abstract mathematical proof. In it, Turing theorised a machine that could solve any mathematical problem by applying a proper algorithm.<\/p>\n<p>As early as 1950, Turing theorised that at some point in our technological development, machines would master a kind of \u201cthinking\u201d, not unlike that of humans. A step towards that manifesting that idea was Colossus, built in Bletchley Park.<\/p>\n<p>Although the father of computer science did not live to see modern computers, he did foresee their development with an astounding accuracy.
