2. Burszta Room

Located at the rear of the former Assembly Hall of the Workers’ Party’s headquarters, the room was a lounge. During recesses in meetings, members of the presidium spent their free time here. This room also led to a side staircase via which it was possible to leave the meeting discreetly. The room was also used by journalists reporting on the proceedings as they could listen directly to the discussions taking place nearby. When the premises were used by the AMU Faculty of History, the room was named after Józef Burszta, used by the faculty and students of ethnology and cultural anthropology. Its today’s layout recreates the furnishings of lecture rooms of the University of Poznań from the late 1920s and early 1930s.
